Black Blood III Single Vineyard Shiraz
Wine
Hugh Hamilton Wines Black Blood III Single Vineyard Shiraz draws from Block 4 of the Black Sheep Vineyard at Blewitt Springs, on the elevated north-eastern fringe of McLaren Vale.
The vines are gnarled and twisted, having thrived in the vineyard's deep sandy soils since 1935. They are known for producing delicate floral notes in the fruit.
This wine is second in the Black Blood trio, a series designed to showcase the winery's three McLaren Vale vineyards. The winemaking is kept as consistent as possible so the wine speaks purely of place.
The grapes – destemmed but not crushed – are whole berry open fermented with a selected yeast strain. After pressing, the wine matures for 18 months in seasoned French oak barrels.
Vibrant purple red, Hugh Hamilton Wines Black Blood III Single Vineyard Shiraz is finely textured and poised with lifted floral aromas. Cellaring potential is eight years.
